The Overview
AST SpaceMobile is building a network of large satellites designed to connect directly to ordinary mobile phones — no special equipment, no dish, just your existing handset getting a signal from space anywhere on Earth. If it works, it solves a genuinely enormous problem. Roughly half the planet has patchy mobile coverage or none.
The problem is the gap between that idea and this company's current financial position. Last year it took in about $71 million of revenue. The stock market values the business at about $25.8 billion. That is roughly 364 dollars of value for every dollar of sales — an extraordinary number by any standard.
It is also burning cash at an enormous rate: about $1.1 billion of cash went out the door last year, and to cover it the company raised $2.6 billion in loans and $1.3 billion by selling new shares. It does hold $2.3 billion of cash today, but it owes $2.2 billion, so almost all of that cash is borrowed. The number of shares has more than tripled in three years, which means existing owners' slice keeps getting smaller.
And the recent operating results have gone backwards. The most recent quarter brought in $14.7 million of revenue when analysts expected $39 million — a miss of 62%. Only seven analysts follow the company at all, and their forecasts for next year's earnings range from a loss of $2.30 per share to a profit of $2.46. That range is so wide it effectively means nobody knows.
One more thing, and it is the piece that tips the judgement. We track a panel of independent experts. None of them has said anything about this company. But several have talked about this exact market — satellites connecting directly to phones — and when they name a company, they name a competitor: one that has spent $17 billion acquiring the radio spectrum to do it and whose connectivity revenue one expert expects to grow fivefold by 2028.
The idea is real. The price assumes it has already succeeded, and the experts we follow are backing someone else.
- Downside Risk 9/10. A venture-stage balance sheet inside a $25.8 billion valuation.
- Growth Quality 8/10. Spectacular rates on a negligible base, and the last quarter went backwards.
- Exponential Potential 8/10. The concept is genuinely exponential. Winning it is a separate question.
Putting a number on it: our fair-value estimate is $36 against a current price of $63.52 — consistent with our call to stay away or wait for a better setup.
Our summary metrics
What does “fair value” mean?
Fair value is Synthos’s estimate of what one share is worth today, based on our model of the company’s future cash generation and the risks to it. It is not a price target or a prediction of where the stock trades next quarter — it’s the price where we think risk and reward are balanced. Above it, you’re paying for outcomes better than our base case; below it, the market is offering a margin of safety.
The model’s inputs and weightings are proprietary — they’re the product. What we publish is the output, We don’t publish a reverse-DCF cross-check for pre-profit companies — negative or missing earnings break that math — so take this number on our modeling alone.

The Road Ahead
What we expect to matter in each window, and the evidence that would prove us wrong.
Short term 0-6 months
No differentiated view- Driver
- $63.52 sits 52.3% below the $133.09 52-week high and 72.1% above the $36.91 low, below a falling 50-DMA ($81.03) and a falling 200-DMA ($82.35), with MACD at -5.65. RSI of 44.5 is mid-range — this stock is not oversold, it is simply declining. The six-month return is -42.9% and the three-month -10.4%, though the twelve-month return remains +19.5%, so the drawdown is recent rather than chronic. With earnings six days away and consensus requiring a 137% sequential revenue increase, the near-term skew is unfavourable.
- What we’re watching
- The 2026-08-10 print, and specifically revenue against the $34.98M consensus. The last two quarters missed by 62% and 27% respectively. Also watch the cash balance and any new financing announcement — at a $1.14B annual burn the funding question is never more than a few quarters away, and each raise has been substantially dilutive.
Medium term 6-24 months
No differentiated view- Driver
- Consensus requires revenue of $158.9M (FY26E) and $684.2M (FY27E) with EPS improving from -$1.450 to -$0.748. The FY26 figure alone requires roughly $48M per quarter for three quarters against $14.7M just delivered. Meanwhile the FY27 EPS consensus rests on 6 analysts with a range of -$2.30 to +$2.46 — a spread of $4.76 per share on a $63.52 stock, which is not a forecast but a statement that nobody knows. Funding needs recur throughout the window and every prior raise has been dilutive.
- What we’re watching
- Quarterly revenue against consensus (two consecutive large misses already); gross margin, which was NEGATIVE 68% in Q4 2025; the pace and terms of the next capital raise; satellite deployment and service-activation milestones (none of which are disclosed in this dataset); and whether the competing direct-to-device systems described in the adjacent knowledge-base lane reach commercial service first.
Long term 2+ years
Neutral- Driver
- Genuinely two-sided. If the constellation reaches full service, the addressable market is enormous and consensus models $4.08B of revenue by FY30. But one tracked source (gavin_baker, 2026-06-09, conviction 65) expects next-generation direct-to-device to deliver 5G-quality global roaming with no dead zones within two years — a market forecast that does not name this company — while two others describe a competing operator with $17B of acquired spectrum and connectivity revenue expected to grow fivefold to roughly $50B by 2028. The long-run question is not whether direct-to-device happens. It is who owns it.
- What we’re watching
- Whether this company or a competing system reaches commercial scale first; spectrum position and regulatory approvals (entirely absent from this dataset); the cumulative dilution required to fund the constellation, which has already taken the share count up 3.6-fold in three years; and whether carrier partnerships convert into recurring revenue rather than milestone payments.

Key stats an RIA wants
1. Data integrity and the share-count warning — read before any per-share number
CRITICAL — the share count in this file is internally inconsistent, and every per-share figure inherits the problem.
- Market capitalisation of $25,845,783,143 divided by a price of $63.52 implies 406.9M shares.
- The most recent quarter (Q1 2026) reports weighted average diluted shares of 290,689,457.
- That is a 40% discrepancy.
The most likely explanation is a multi-class capital structure in which the weighted-average diluted count used for earnings per share excludes classes of stock included in the market-capitalisation calculation, combined with continuous issuance during the period (shares rose from 223.97M to 290.69M across the four quarters of 2025 alone). We cannot resolve it from this file. Consequently: every per-share figure in this dive is approximate, and the scenario analysis in section 6 uses the market-implied 406.9M count — the conservative choice, since it produces lower per-share values. Anyone using the 290.7M count would arrive at values roughly 40% higher, and we flag that sensitivity explicitly.
REJECTED — the entire consensus EBITDA series. Every forecast year shows negative ebitdaAvg: -$95.3M (FY26E), -$410.5M (FY27E), -$1.100B (FY28E), -$1.919B (FY29E), -$2.450B (FY30E) — growing steadily more negative — while the same FY30 row shows netIncomeAvg of +$1.029B. EBITDA of -$2.45B alongside net income of +$1.03B in the same year is arithmetically impossible. The series is corrupt and no EBITDA-based figure appears anywhere in this dive. This exact failure mode recurs across several files in this batch and appears systematic rather than company-specific.
FLAGGED — Q4 2025 reports negative gross profit on positive revenue. The quarter ending 2025-12-31 shows revenue of $54.305M and gross profit of -$36.989M — a gross margin of -68%. Either a large cost true-up was recognised in that quarter, or the field is erroneous. Q1 2025 shows the same pattern (revenue $0.718M, gross profit -$26.486M). We do not compute any gross-margin trend from this series and note that the FY25 annual figure (gross profit $37.886M on revenue $70.918M, a 53.4% margin) cannot be reconciled to the sum of its own quarters. The gross-profit line in this file is unreliable at the quarterly level.
FLAGGED — the earnings-calendar revenue actuals do not reconcile to the income statement in one instance. The calendar reports $54,305,000 for the 2026-03-02 date and the income statement reports $54.305M for the quarter ending 2025-12-31 — consistent. But the calendar's date labels lag the fiscal quarters by roughly two months throughout, which is normal reporting lag; readers comparing the two series directly should map by amount, not by date.
FLAGGED — the insider record contains one uninterpretable and one junk row. On 2026-06-22 the record shows Abel Avellan (director, 10% owner, Chief Executive Officer) with a transaction type of "J-Other" for 2,500,000 shares at a price of $0, with securities owned after of 2,500,000. A "J" code denotes an other acquisition or disposition — a category covering transfers, gifts, trust movements and reclassifications — and at a stated price of zero it cannot be read as either a purchase or a sale. We draw no inference from it and we flag it rather than characterising it. Separately, a 2026-07-14 row for Christopher Turco shows a blank transaction type, 0 shares and $0 price — a junk row.
CHECKED AND CLEAN — the most recent quarter's core figures. inc_q[0] (Q1 2026) passes the arithmetic screen: net income of -$191.012M against 290,689,457 shares gives -$0.657 versus the reported -$0.66; share counts do not duplicate the prior quarter (290.69M against 255.98M) and continue the steady upward issuance trend; interest expense of $24.278M is a plausible step up from $2.653M given the $2.60B of debt raised during FY25. The revenue and loss figures are usable; the share-count basis is the open question, as set out above.
Data ABSENT: there is no geographic revenue disclosure (seg_geo is empty), and the product disclosure consists of a single FY25 row (Product $44.4M, Service $26.5M). There is no satellite count, no deployment schedule, no spectrum detail, no carrier-agreement disclosure, no regulatory status, and no subscriber or coverage metric anywhere in this file. For a pre-commercial constellation operator, those are the only metrics that matter, and none of them are available. This dive is therefore an assessment of the financial security only, and we state that limitation rather than implying an engineering judgement we are not equipped to make.
2. The financial position
Income statement (annual):
| FY22 | FY23 | FY24 | FY25 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $13.8M | $0.0M | $4.4M | $70.9M |
| Gross profit | $7.1M | $0.0M | $4.4M | $37.9M |
| R&D | $99.8M | $126.3M | $122.3M | $28.1M |
| Operating income | -$145.8M | -$222.4M | -$242.8M | -$287.7M |
| Net income | -$31.6M | -$87.6M | -$300.1M | -$341.9M |
| Diluted EPS | -$0.58 | -$1.07 | -$1.94 | -$1.34 |
| Weighted diluted shares | 54.4M | 81.8M | 154.5M | 256.0M |
Two things stand out. First, revenue was literally zero in FY23 — this company is three years removed from having no revenue at all. Second, the share count has risen from 54.4M to 256.0M in three years, a 4.7-fold increase, and reached 290.7M by Q1 2026. Existing holders have been diluted continuously and heavily.
Quarterly revenue — the pattern that matters most:
| Quarter | Revenue | Consensus | Result | Net income | EPS | Consensus EPS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q1 2025 | $0.718M | $4.04M | Miss -82% | -$45.7M | -$0.20 | -$0.194 |
| Q2 2025 | $1.156M | $6.68M | Miss -83% | -$99.4M | -$0.41 | -$0.192 (miss -114%) |
| Q3 2025 | $14.739M | $22.04M | Miss -33% | -$122.9M | -$0.45 | -$0.388 |
| Q4 2025 | $54.305M | $41.77M | Beat +30% | -$74.0M | -$0.28 | -$0.18 |
| Q1 2026 | $14.735M | $39.01M | Miss -62% | -$191.0M | -$0.66 | -$0.255 (miss -159%) |
Four misses in five quarters on revenue, and the single beat was followed by a 73% sequential collapse. The most recent quarter missed revenue by 62% and EPS by 159%. That is not a company on the cusp of a commercial ramp; it is a company recognising lumpy milestone-type revenue with no visible run-rate.
Balance sheet (FY25, 2025-12-31):
- Cash $2.337B (up from $565.0M — a 314% increase, all of it raised)
- Total debt $2.240B (up from $173.0M — a 1,195% increase in one year)
- Net cash: $97.1M (my computation, matching the vendor's figure)
- Shareholders' equity $1.841B; accumulated deficit -$831.7M
- Total assets $5.014B, of which roughly half is the satellite asset base built in FY25
- Current ratio 18.47 — high, but that is simply a large cash balance against small current liabilities, and it says nothing about a multi-year funding need
Cash flow — the defining table:
| FY22 | FY23 | FY24 | FY25 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Operating cash flow | -$156.5M | -$148.9M | -$126.1M | -$71.5M |
| Capex | -$57.3M | -$118.8M | -$174.1M | -$1,064.7M |
| Free cash flow | -$213.7M | -$267.7M | -$300.3M | -$1,136.3M |
| Net debt issuance | $0.2M | $63.3M | $96.2M | +$2,602.2M |
| Net stock issuance | $104.8M | $64.6M | $551.9M | +$1,259.3M |
| Total raised | $105.0M | $127.9M | $648.1M | +$3,861.5M |
In FY25 this company raised $3.86B — $2.60B of debt and $1.26B of equity — to fund a $1.14B free-cash-flow deficit and build out its satellite base. The capital intensity is the business model, and it is legitimate for a constellation operator. But the consequence is unambiguous: the $2.34B cash balance is not a war chest, it is a loan. True net cash is $97.1M. At the FY25 burn rate the current position funds roughly two years, and every prior raise has been dilutive.
3. Knowledge base — zero claims, and an adjacent lane that backs the competition
AST SpaceMobile has ZERO tagged claims in the Synthos knowledge base. kb_claim_count: 0. No tracked source has named this company. That alone would make this a fundamentals-driven dive.
But the situation is materially worse than no coverage, and this is the most important qualitative finding in the dive. The knowledge base contains four theme-adjacent claims on direct-to-device connectivity, and three of the four explicitly underwrite competing systems:
- all_in, 2025-09-10 (bullish, conviction 70, entities: SpaceX, Starlink, EchoStar): "$17B EchoStar spectrum lets Starlink deliver high-bandwidth direct-to-phone connectivity; requires new phone chipsets, shipping in ~2 years."
- all_in, 2025-09-10 (bullish, conviction 55, entities: Starlink, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile): "Starlink could become a comprehensive global carrier (home Wi-Fi + direct-to-cell), though existing carriers won't be put out of business."
- bill_gurley, 2026-06-11 (bullish, conviction 60, entity: SpaceX): "SpaceX connectivity revenue can 5x from ~$10B to ~$50B by 2028; there is enough TAM in broadband and direct-to-cell."
- gavin_baker, 2026-06-09 (bullish, conviction 65): "Next-generation direct-to-device/direct-to-cell will deliver 5G-quality global roaming with no dead zones within the next two years." — the only one of the four that is company-agnostic. It validates the market, not this operator.
Read this carefully, because it is the crux of the Avoid. Our tracked panel is bullish on direct-to-device connectivity. Three independent claims across two sources describe a competitor that has spent $17B acquiring spectrum for exactly this application, that could become "a comprehensive global carrier", and whose connectivity revenue one source expects to grow fivefold to roughly $50B by 2028. Not one claim names AST SpaceMobile.
And note who else appears in this company's own vendor-assigned peer list: EchoStar (SATS), at $85.59 and a $24.67B market capitalisation — the counterparty in the $17B spectrum transaction described in the first claim above.
The conclusion is not that the technology fails. It is that in a capital-intensive, spectrum-gated, winner-take-most market, our panel's conviction attaches to a differently-capitalised competitor, and a $25.8B enterprise value at 364x sales leaves no room whatsoever for coming second. An exponential you do not win is worth nothing, and that is the asymmetry the price ignores.
Search-hygiene note. A naive text search on this ticker and on "satellite" returns six hits, two of which are physiology claims about satellite cells in muscle tissue (Andy Galpin, 2016; Rhonda Patrick, 2025). Those are excluded. Matching on the company name and on the direct-to-device theme produced the four adjacent claims above, each of which was individually read.
4. Valuation — priced in or room?
At $63.52 (market cap $25.846B, net cash $97.1M, EV $25.75B):
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| EV / FY25 revenue | 363x |
| EV / FY26E revenue ($158.9M) | 162x |
| EV / FY27E revenue ($684.2M) | 37.6x |
| EV / FY28E revenue ($1.833B) | 14.0x |
| EV / FY29E revenue ($3.198B) | 8.1x |
| Free-cash-flow yield | -5.0% |
| Price / book | 8.88x |
| Vendor credit grade | D+ (overall score 1 of 5) |
Consensus (EBITDA rejected — see section 1):
| FY26E | FY27E | FY28E | FY29E | FY30E | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $158.9M | $684.2M | $1.833B | $3.198B | $4.084B |
| EPS | -$1.450 | -$0.748 | +$0.600 | +$2.465 | +$4.022 |
| EPS range (low to high) | -$2.05 to -$0.90 | -$2.30 to +$2.46 | +$0.34 to +$0.86 | — | — |
| Analyst count (revenue / EPS) | 8 / 7 | 8 / 6 | 5 / 2 | 2 / 1 | 2 / 1 |
The FY27 EPS range deserves its own sentence: analysts' estimates span from a loss of $2.30 per share to a profit of $2.46 per share. That is a $4.76 spread on a $63.52 stock — 7.5% of the share price — and it is not a forecast. It is six analysts stating that the outcome is unknowable. From FY28 onward, coverage collapses to 1-2 analysts and the estimates should be disregarded entirely.
4a. What today's price assumes (the inversion)
At $63.52 — 363x FY25 revenue and 14.0x FY28E revenue — the price embeds the following falsifiable claims:
- Revenue reaches $158.9M in FY26 (consensus, 8 analysts). Q1 delivered $14.7M. The remaining three quarters must average $48.1M each — a 227% step up from the quarter just reported, which itself missed its estimate by 62%. This is the most fragile assumption in the price and it is testable in six days.
- Revenue reaches $684.2M by FY27 and $1.833B by FY28 — a 26-fold increase from FY25 in three years, requiring commercial service at scale across multiple carrier markets.
- The company reaches GAAP profitability in FY28 (consensus EPS +$0.600), i.e. within thirty months, from a business currently losing $191M per quarter.
- No further material dilution. The share count has risen 4.7-fold in three years and the free-cash-flow burn is $1.14B a year against $97.1M of true net cash. The price assumes the constellation is funded — and the balance sheet says it is funded for roughly two years.
- This company, rather than a competing system, captures the direct-to-device opportunity. Our knowledge base contains three claims underwriting a competitor with $17B of acquired spectrum and none naming this one.
4b. The return bridge (why the multiple moves)
Expected return ≈ revenue growth + multiple drift + dilution. We use revenue rather than earnings because there are none, and rather than free cash flow because it is negative.
- Revenue growth: enormous on consensus (+124% compound to FY30), and entirely unproven — four revenue misses in five quarters.
- Multiple drift: our base case assumes very heavy COMPRESSION, from 363x FY25 revenue to 8x FY28E revenue, and this is not a bearish assumption — it is arithmetic. A company at 363x sales must de-rate as revenue arrives; the only question is whether revenue arrives fast enough that the price still rises. In our base case it does not. 8x forward sales is a normal multiple for a capital-intensive, capital-hungry infrastructure operator, and applying it to the FY28 consensus produces $36 per share.
- Dilution: strongly NEGATIVE. With a $1.14B annual burn and $97.1M of true net cash, further equity issuance is near-certain within the horizon. Each of the last three years saw net stock issuance of $64.6M, $551.9M and $1,259.3M. The share count is the third variable in this equation and it has only ever moved one way.
The bridge reads: extraordinary revenue growth, overwhelmed by necessary multiple compression and further dilution. The reason this is an Avoid rather than a Hold is that even granting consensus revenue in full, the fair value is 43% below spot. The bull case does not require us to be wrong about the technology; it requires the market to keep paying an extreme multiple while revenue arrives.
Scenario bands (stated arithmetic, using the market-implied 406.9M share count; no DCF):
- Bear ~$8 — constellation deployment stalls or funding becomes punitive. In a wind-down or heavily-dilutive-recapitalisation scenario, the residual claim is the $1.841B equity book against $2.24B of debt, spread across a share count that would rise substantially further. We anchor at roughly $8 to reflect a partial rather than total loss, but the honest statement is that the bear case for a pre-revenue infrastructure operator with $2.24B of debt has a very long left tail. -87% from spot.
- Base ~$36 — 8x FY28E consensus revenue of $1.833B, plus $97.1M of net cash, across 406.9M shares. This grants consensus revenue in full and applies a normal infrastructure multiple. -43% from spot.
- Bull ~$94 — 12x FY29E consensus revenue of $3.198B across the same share count. This requires the FY29 estimate (2 revenue analysts) to be met, the company to win the market, and a premium multiple to persist. +48% from spot, and it is the weakest-supported scenario in this entire batch. It sits just below the $100 street consensus and the $108 street high.
Base sits 43% BELOW spot. The street sits 57% above it. That is the widest divergence between our work and the sell-side anywhere in this batch, and it comes almost entirely from the multiple applied, not from the revenue forecast — we use consensus revenue unchanged.
4c. Variant perception (where we differ, what would surprise)
- Our variant perception is on the multiple and on the competitive outcome, not on the technology. We accept consensus revenue in full and still arrive 43% below spot, because 363x sales cannot survive contact with an arriving revenue line unless the revenue is far larger than anyone models. Seven analysts with a $4.76 FY27 EPS range are not a consensus we can lean on in either direction, and the appropriate response to that much dispersion is to demand a margin of safety that a 364x multiple does not provide.
- We differ most sharply from the street on who wins. Our knowledge base contains three claims backing a competing operator — $17B of spectrum, a possible "comprehensive global carrier", connectivity revenue growing fivefold to $50B by 2028 — and zero naming this company. The street's $100 target implicitly assumes this operator captures the opportunity. We think the panel's silence on this name, combined with its enthusiasm for a rival, is the single most important piece of evidence available, and it is not in the price.
- We hold no engineering view and say so. This dataset contains no satellite count, no deployment schedule, no spectrum position, no regulatory status and no coverage metric. Anyone offering a confident technical judgement from this file is inventing it. Our verdict rests on the balance sheet, the revenue record, the multiple and the competitive lane.
- Positive surprise that would force a repricing: the 2026-08-10 print delivering revenue at or above $35M (the consensus, requiring a 137% sequential increase) with management confirming a commercial service ramp and — critically — a funding path that does not require further equity issuance. Two consecutive quarters of that pattern would change the case materially. It is watchable, dated, and six days away.
- Negative surprise: a third consecutive large revenue miss; any announcement of a further equity raise at or below current prices; a debt covenant issue against the $2.24B borrowed; or a competing direct-to-device system reaching commercial service first.
5. What would change our mind
We want to be explicit about the falsification path, because an Avoid on a genuinely visionary company should carry a clear route back.
This becomes a Watch on any two of:
1. Two consecutive quarters of revenue at or above consensus, establishing that the ramp is real and that the estimate misses were timing rather than capability.
2. A funding solution that does not dilute — a strategic partner, a customer prepayment structure, or cash generation sufficient to cover the burn.
3. A tracked source naming this company — any independent expert conviction at all would move this from zero to something.
4. A price below ~$36, our base case, where consensus FY28 revenue at a normal infrastructure multiple is no longer pre-paid.
It becomes a Stage-In only on all of the above, plus disclosure of a commercial service milestone with recurring revenue behind it.
6. Verdict, and what this verdict is not
Avoid. At $63.52 the enterprise trades at 363 times FY25 revenue and 14.0 times FY28 consensus revenue — consensus that rests on eight analysts and requires a 26-fold revenue increase in three years, from a company that has missed its revenue estimate in four of the last five quarters, including by 62% in the most recent one, and whose EPS missed by 159%. Free cash flow is -$1.136B annually against $97.1M of true net cash, the $2.34B cash balance being funded by $2.24B of debt raised alongside $1.26B of new equity in FY25 alone. The share count has risen 4.7-fold in three years. The vendor's credit grade is D+. And the knowledge base contains zero claims naming this company while carrying three claims underwriting a competing operator with $17B of acquired spectrum. Our base fair value of $36 — which grants consensus revenue in full — is 43% below spot.
What this verdict is NOT. It is not a claim that the technology will fail; we have no engineering data and we say so. It is not a claim that direct-to-device connectivity is a bad market — our own tracked panel is bullish on it, at conviction 55 to 70, across four separate claims. It is not a short recommendation; a stock with a beta of 2.677, an $8-to-$94 outcome range and a binary technical catalyst is dangerous in both directions.
It is a statement that the security offers no margin of safety for an outcome that even its own analysts cannot bound within $4.76 per share of earnings. When the range of expert opinion on next year's profitability spans a loss of $2.30 to a gain of $2.46, the correct position size is zero unless the price compensates for that uncertainty. At 364 times sales, it does not.
Where ASTS fits in the Synthos Framework Portfolio. It does not. If the direct-to-device theme is to be expressed, the knowledge base points to a different operator, and the theme can also be accessed with far less single-constellation execution risk through the terrestrial carriers and equipment suppliers that will carry the traffic regardless of which system wins. Logged as a tracked Synthos call (Avoid) as of 2026-08-04 at $63.52.
Single biggest risk (for anyone who owns it): funding. $97.1M of genuine net cash against a $1.14B annual burn is roughly a two-year runway at the FY25 rate, and the company has already raised $3.86B in a single year. The next raise is a question of when, not whether, and every previous one has been dilutive. At a beta of 2.677 with the stock 52% off its high, the terms of that raise will not be favourable.
Most fragile assumption in the price: that FY26 revenue reaches $158.9M. The first quarter delivered $14.7M and missed its estimate by 62%. The remaining three quarters must average $48.1M each, a 227% step up. That single number is the foundation of every subsequent estimate, of the FY28 profitability consensus, and of the $100 street target — and it will be substantially tested on 2026-08-10, six days after this dive.
Provenance & disclosures
- Traceability: ZERO tagged KB claims name AST SpaceMobile (
kb_claim_count: 0, breadth 0). This dive is explicitly fundamentals- and arithmetic-driven — an accepted, precedented outcome. Four theme-adjacent claims on direct-to-device connectivity are cited and labelled as adjacent, and THREE of the four underwrite competing systems: all_in 2025-09-10 (conviction 70, a $17B spectrum acquisition enabling a competitor's high-bandwidth direct-to-phone service); all_in 2025-09-10 (conviction 55, that competitor as a possible comprehensive global carrier); bill_gurley 2026-06-11 (conviction 60, that competitor's connectivity revenue growing fivefold to roughly $50B by 2028); and gavin_baker 2026-06-09 (conviction 65, the only company-agnostic claim, validating the market rather than any operator). The panel is bullish on the theme and has named a different beneficiary — this is treated as material evidence, not as an absence of coverage. Two false-positive matches on "satellite cells" in muscle-physiology claims (Andy Galpin 2016, Rhonda Patrick 2025) were excluded. - Data as-of: fundamentals 2026-03-31 (Q1 2026; fiscal year ends December) · estimates 2026-08-04 · prices 2026-08-04 ($63.52, 50-DMA $81.03, 200-DMA $82.35, RSI 44.5, beta 2.677) · KB claims 2026-08-04. - SHARE-COUNT WARNING: market capitalisation ÷ price implies 406.9M shares, while the most recent quarter reports 290.7M weighted average diluted shares — a 40% discrepancy, most likely a multi-class structure combined with continuous issuance, and unresolvable from this file. All scenario values in section 4b use the market-implied 406.9M count (the conservative choice); using 290.7M would raise every per-share value by roughly 40%. This sensitivity is disclosed rather than hidden.
- Data REJECTED — the entire consensus EBITDA series. Every forecast year is negative, reaching -$2.450B in FY30, while the same FY30 row shows
netIncomeAvgof +$1.029B. Arithmetically impossible. No EBITDA figure appears in this dive. This failure mode recurs across several files in this batch. - Data FLAGGED: (1) Q4 2025 reports NEGATIVE gross profit of -$36.989M on POSITIVE revenue of $54.305M (a -68% gross margin), and Q1 2025 shows the same pattern; the FY25 annual gross-profit figure cannot be reconciled to the sum of its quarters. No gross-margin trend is computed. (2) The insider record contains a "J-Other" transaction of 2,500,000 shares at $0 by the chief executive (2026-06-22) — an "other acquisition or disposition" code covering transfers, gifts and reclassifications, which cannot be interpreted as either a purchase or a sale, and from which we draw no inference — plus one junk row with a blank transaction type and zero values. (3) R&D expense falls 77% from $122.3M (FY24) to $28.1M (FY25) while capex rises 512%, suggesting a reclassification into capitalised construction that the file does not confirm.
- Data ABSENT:
seg_geois empty; product disclosure is a single FY25 row. There is no satellite count, no deployment schedule, no spectrum position, no regulatory status, no carrier-agreement detail, and no coverage or subscriber metric anywhere in this file. For a pre-commercial constellation operator these are the only metrics that matter. This dive is therefore an assessment of the financial security alone and makes no engineering judgement, which we state as a limitation rather than implying expertise we do not have. - Coverage caveat: only 7 analysts cover this security (3 buy / 3 hold / 1 sell). The FY27 consensus EPS range spans -$2.30 to +$2.46 — a $4.76 spread, 7.5% of the share price. FY28 rests on 2 EPS analysts; FY29 and FY30 on 1 each. Estimates beyond FY28 are disregarded entirely.
- Fair-value caveat: the $8 / $36 / $94 anchors are scenario multiples applied to consensus revenue accepted in full and unchanged, plus net cash, divided by the market-implied share count — not a discounted cash-flow model. The 43% gap to spot arises entirely from the multiple applied, not from any downward revision to the revenue forecast. The bear case is anchored at a partial rather than total loss; the honest statement is that a pre-revenue infrastructure operator carrying $2.24B of debt has a long left tail. The bull case rests on an FY29 estimate carried by two analysts and is the weakest-supported scenario in this batch.
